Girly Stuff by TravisTheGeek Girly Stuff by TravisTheGeek
As you may recall from my Daredevil picture [link], I'll be attending an arts & crafts show to benefit my friend's sister-in-law who needs surgery. Anyway, when I first heard about the show, I was under the impression that it was actually going to be a rather nerdy affair. My friend who told me about it I know through Star Wars costuming and somewhere along the way I got it in my mind that there were going to be things like costume supply vendors and nerdy nick-knacks like TARDIS earrings or Ninja Turtle necklaces. But as I saw the list of vendors, I realized it was stuff like Mary Kay and Tupperware and jewelry. (and not the nerdy kind.) In short, "girly" stuff. Suddenly I'm worried that my silly superhero and sci-fi drawings are going to stand out a bit. I decided to put a little focus on girly stuff in hopes of playing to the audience that this show seems to be aiming for. But of course I had to put my own personal spin on it. And so, somehow, I ended up with this.

The characters featured are Tenderheart Bear of the Care Bears, Rainbow Bright (carrying She-Ra's sword, of course), Rainbow Dash, and Hello Kitty.

OMG This is beyond awesome!
As someone who grew up watching a fair amount of these "Girly" shows, it warms my heart to see them Re-Done with their "GRR" faces on!
Rainbow Bright especially, done up in warrior armor like that. Never would have pictured her with GRR going on!
Also Lord the claws on that CareBear! Don't @#% with CareBears!!!

This does actually strongly remind me of the DC comic series "Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld" (or "Sword of Sorcery" as the series is called nowadays)

Sounds cool. I'll have to check that out.

so far there were 3 series

2 series were made during the 80s
the first one ran from 1983 til 1984 [link]
the second one ran from 1985 til 1986 [link]

a revival series called "Sword of Sorcery" began in 2012, and is still ongoing

also, as part of the DC Nation shorts (short, usually 1 or 2 minutes long cartoons, starring DC's lesser known heroes, that Cartoon Network airs between commercials) they created a number of shorts starring Amethyst [link]
