My ode to the fantastic fighting females of "Avatar: The Last Airbender". This drawing has been a loooooooong time coming. The oldest related sketch I have on my computer dates back to 2008! (So, well before "Korra"; before anyone ask.) I've made several attempts at drawing this, but I could never seem to bring myself to finish. I think my skills just couldn't quite live up to my vision until now. And now that I see the final product, I'm glad I waited.

Big thanks goes to :iconcomfortlove: and :iconadamwithers:, not only for teaching me practically everything I know about art in general, but for helping me out with this project specifically. I was at a point where I thought I was almost done, but something felt missing. I went to them and they gave me a lot of great advice that turned this from a 'pretty good' drawing to a much better one.

Beautiful concept. Awesome result. ESPECIALLY coming from a guy. :D

Heh, thanks. I've always been a fan of strong female characters. That's actually one of the reasons I like ATLA and Korra so much.

This is awesome. Thank you for including those women that "fought" not with bending or weapon, but stood up as strong individuals nonetheless. I think Yue is the ultimate hero, myself.

Oh, absolutely. Yue was awesome. Kya and Ursa, I think, fall into the same category; not really fighters, but showing bravery and making sacrifices when the moment arose.

Absolutely. Their inclusion made the show much more believable to me. A war is being fought. There are heroes, and there are casualties. Sometimes they go together for heartrending tragedy. Thanks again for including them!

This turned out great, Travis. The cabbage cart is a brilliant touch. You totally pulled it all together. :D
